Silence: Nothing is better than Something

Silence_Black_desktop.png

Silence. Uncomfortable silence. What do I say to them?

Nothing. Be Silent.

We often rush to do or say something, anything before thinking because we need an excuse for this or a reason for that or I feel obligated to do something for this person, or something for this event. When we are not in a place to give often times nothing is better than something.

Maya Angelou chose not to speak for years. And in those years, she chose to read. She educated herself and gave herself more knowledge and education. When she finally spoke, she had something to say.

We have all been in a place where we don’t feel as though we are in a place where we want to be. I took what miss Angelou did to heart, and there was along stretch of time where I allowed myself the time and space to not be involved with others and love the quiet, powerful, silence. It was the best thing I ever did. I put all of my focus and energy into traveling, reading, and exploring others who have made a difference in the world and embodied everything I read.

When I finally had something to say, I chose to write.

Writing is a silent and powerful protest to the fast paced and sensitized world that is constantly feeding on your emotions, thoughts and reactions to fuel your commercial purchases. Writing has allowed us to preserve our eloquent protest in words that contrast the world that is unable to cease the meaningless contrived perpetuation of social norms. Aesthetic Minimalism and Abstractions are a study of silence, or the subtraction of external noise, visually, texturally, spatially, and when taken beyond the visual medium into the world, the removal of voices, influences and interactions that are interrupting an otherwise frictionless experience.

My presence requires no explanation.

Silence is the uninterrupted life.
