Holiday Musings: Abstraction & Minimalism
Mother with Children, Christmas 1912
Documenting the smallest moments, shape and color of an essence breathes meaning into your work.
Abstraction is the art of distillation. Taking a complex thing with all of it’s ebb and flow and creating a singular expression of what that thing is. The holidays are for an abundance of food, family, laughs, pleasant memories, and oodles of photos to be remembered for years to come. This year, we had a small Holiday, with a handful of family, only a few gifts, and just what we could eat on the table, and we savored each moment all the more because of it. We created traditions that fit our current lifestyle, while keeping the essential traditions of the past.
Our work as stylists is to be the hands that delicately create with integrity. Having the ability to both distill and deepen the essence of an individual, moment, or group into a potent elixir of experience is an invaluable trait.
Stylists are present for the most important moments of life, and our creativity deepens the value of our clients and loved ones experiences. If we live and breathe our craft, we find that no matter how long we have been doing what we do, we find ourselves creating for others naturally.
In what ways are you able to do that for your clients and for those you love in their most important life events?
